Which trainers should I buy? Finding the perfect pair of cheap trainers
There are so many types of trainers available online that it is sometimes hard to know where to start looking for your perfect pair. Here’s a list of the most popular designs to help you choose some that are right for you.
- Plimsolls & Low-top
This is a shoe with a low shaft height. These types are perfect for wearing with classic fit jeans or trousers. Combine a low-top with a robust leather material if you want something which is durable enough to see you through the winter.
The retro-inspired high-top style makes for great statement footwear. If you’re feeling extra bold, why not try out some heeled high-top sneakers. Heeled high-tops come in all shapes and sizes and can provide subtle extra height and elegance.
This lightweight and simple style is perfect for wearing with summer outfits. As there are no fastenings, they shouldn’t be worn on long walks or trips as they could end up in giving the wearer blisters.
- Fitness trainers & Tone up trainers
Perfect for fitness and yoga. Fitness shoes are usually lightweight and comfy, which makes them great for exercising in. They may also have rounded soles, which is great for strengthening muscles and joints during your workout.
- Ladies wedge trainers
The perfect heel type for sneakers! The wedge provides enough elegance and support to keep you stable and stylish all day long. If you want to make your wedge stand out more, choose ones with a contrast black or white sole.
This 90’s inspired sole provides a sturdy base to the trainer, which makes any outfit look effortlessly cool. Platforms are available in a range of different sizes and heights, depending on how much of a statement you want to make. For more of a retro vibe, combine with metallic elements!
Athletic shoes are specifically designed for working out. They come in a number of different designs, depending on the activity that they are designed for. For example running, walking and tennis shoes. For an added fitness element, try rounded soles. Rounded soles help to tone muscles and strengthen the joints as you walk around.
How to take care of your footwear
Whatever the colour, design or fabric of your favourite sneakers, they will inevitably become scuffed and dirty over time. A quick and easy way to get them clean quick is by using your washing machine, here’s how:
- Before opting for this method, you should first check the washing instructions on the label to see if they are safe to be machine washed. You should be extra careful with leather, suede, or leather look materials as it is not likely that they will be machine washable. First, remove the laces and insole (if applicable) to speed up the drying process later. Laces can get quite grubby, so you should think about whether you want to replace them or wash them. If you decide to wash them, you can do so by using an old toothbrush and soapy water and give them a thorough scrub until clean.
- Next, deodorize the insoles by scrubbing them with a mixture of liquid detergent and warm water before leaving to dry. Clean away any tough stains or debris by using a tougher brush. For hard to reach areas, try using a cotton bud soaked in the warm water solution.
- Place the trainers into a pillow case and secure the opening loosely with a few safety pins. Put the pillow case into the washing machine, along with a few towels to avoid damaging the inside of the machine, and choose a setting which is a cold, slow spin setting for delicate loads. Leave to dry naturally! Please note: if you are washing very dark or black coloured shoes, then you should also choose darker towels to wash with them with to avoid any colour running.
